Frequently Asked Questions

What parrots do you breed?

Currently we are focused on breeding Exhibition (Show type) Budgerigars - the bigger budgies with floofy heads. They are harder to find.

We may also breed Pet type budgerigars occasionally - these are the more common ones found in pet stores.

We plan to breed cockatiels in 2024.

Where are you located?

We are located in Kennedale, Texas - in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

What are your birds' prices like?

Exhibition Budgerigars start at $150.00. Rarer varieties will be priced higher.

Pet type Budgerigars start at $100.00. Rarer varieties are priced higher.

Are your birds hand-fed?

No. All our babies are parent raised. We socialize them with humans and other pets very early so they are desensitized to a variety of situations. Science and personal experience shows that handfed birds develop behavioral problems and struggle to adapt to different situations. Most breeders do not socialize their babies correctly and assume handfeeding is sufficient to produce tame birds. Unfortunately this is far from the truth, and we raise our birds the right way. Our birds will go home being trusting of humans and will grow to be more independent personalities.

Proper methods of socialization is a lot more hard work than handfeeding. You are invited to meet our babies prior to making your selection.

Why are your prices high?

We believe that our prices are very fair. A lot of work is done, and a lot of resources are spent on raising our birds with gold standard care. We spend many hours with every individual bird to raise them well. We do not cut corners with socialization, housing or food. The quality of birds we can provide will be very distinct from a backyard breeder's stock. You will also pay for birds who come from a disease tested flock. There is value in the work we do. There is value in the birds we raise.

May I meet the babies before deciding on reserving one?

We welcome all our guests to meet our birds prior to making any commitment. Please email us to schedule an appointment.

Please be advised that we have a waitlist for our birds, so appointments may be limited during a breeding season.

How can I make a payment?

We accept cash, PayPal and Zelle. If you would like to reserve a baby early, we will request a 65% of the total price as a non-refundable deposit paid in advance. The balance can be paid the day of pick-up.

Payment for our other services will be expected in advance in full, and may be refundable at our discretion.

What can you tell me about your waitlist?

Our customers stay in contact prior to our breeding season. We have a waitlist forming before nest boxes are set up. We sign our customers up on a first come, first serve basis. A 65% deposit is still required to reserve a bird, however.

If you are not able to get on the current waitlist, we are happy to sign you up for the next breeding season.

Please E-mail us to get on the waitlist!

How often do you have babies available?

Honestly, not very often. We plan for 2 breeding seasons annually and generally intend to breed each pair once per breeding season. We prefer our pairs to enjoy majority of their years resting and having fun. We will not overbreed any of our birds. Therefore the number of birds we have available each season can be limited.

Should I get more than one bird?

We highly recommend that your bird has at least one companion. The companion could be a bird you already have. You are welcome to purchase two birds from us each breeding season.

Please note that we will not sell siblings of the opposite sex to our customers at any time.

What kind of health guarantee can your provide?

Our parent birds are tested for Chlamydia (Psittacosis), Polyomavirus (results in French moult), PDD (Proventricular Dilatation DiseasE) and PBFD (Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease). They are not exposed to additional birds who have not passed the same tests. We take strict measures to protect our flock from avian diseases because we truly love them all.

As an added bonus, we are a veterinarian household and all our birds are examined by a doctor prior to being cleared for sale.

We also choose parents who have shown physical features attributing to excellent health. We do not breed closely related birds together to keep genetic deformities at bay.

If a bird you have obtained from us appears poorly within 4 weeks of purchase, please have them evaluated by an Avian specialist to identify the cause. Upon evaluation of medical records, we may refund you the full purchase price if there's reasonable evidence showing negligence on our part.

We are happy to take back any birds should you choose to part ways with them.

Do you have a return policy?

If for any reason you are not willing to continue caring for a bird obtained from us, we will take the bird back. Our birds should not end up in a rescue or rehomed to where the level of care will be compromised. They will always have a place with us.

Do you ship? I live far away.

We do not ship our birds at this time. They are available for pick-up from our home only.

We may help deliver in Austin and Houston if we have existing plans to visit. Additional delivery and/or hotel fees may apply.
